"Born in the Netherlands, Casper Van Drongelen first experienced Thanksgiving when he was 13 years old and living in Madison, Wisconsin.

“It’s weird to be thrown into a completely different culture," the executive chef at 8UP Elevated Drinkery & Kitchen said. "I didn’t speak English at the time. One of my dad’s colleagues invited us to his house. I didn’t understand what was happening other than the Foosball table."

He has come a long way in his understanding of the traditional American holiday.

To him, the family aspect of the holiday and the opportunity to share a meal are just as important as the food. As for his own ideal Thanksgiving meal? It would include dark meat turkey, stuffing, gravy and a little bit of cranberries."
